Mohiomap has some amazing things you can do - when it comes to “mindmapping” - that you might not be aware of. We have several tools you can use to customize, edit, and play with your Cloud documents. You may not even realize it, but Mohiomap can help you mindmap your way to a creative presentation or just help you get organized.

Here are 5 of the ways you can use Mohiomap to mindmap and edit your documents and notes. The following tips will focus around a Project Management Executive, let’s call him James, who uses Mohiomap to organize all his documents notes for each stage of his projects with the use of Evernote, Google Drive and Mohiomap. We will show how each tip can be applied particularly to the planning and strategizing stage around James’ projects.

Let's follow James to see how he gets great value out of using the mindmapping capabilities within Mohiomap.

1 - Navigate to a folder or notebook node

It’s important to get started by laying out the workspace, whether it be digital or tangible. A great way of doing this in Mohiomap is by ‘navigating’ to your chosen folder or notebook. Navigate by clicking on the respective folder or notebook and then click ‘navigate’. Now you won’t have any distractions from your other connected accounts or other content. (Also, you can always simply click the back button or home button to get back to your previous view).

To stay focused on his current project, James navigates to his relevant project folder, that is, Project Alpha in the above image. He’s then set up and ready to begin managing the tasks needing to be completed that day.

2 - Creating and Editing (Renaming) Documents and Notes

You can create and edit new documents and notes on the fly with Mohiomap. Just click on the folder or notebook node and select ‘new file or note’. Once you’ve named your note or document, it will appear both on your map and in your connected cloud platform. You can then select the ‘Web’ option in the Navigate Menu, when you click on a node, to open and edit your newly created note or file without taking you away from Mohiomap and your task at hand.

You can also change file and note names within Mohiomap, duplicate documents, and delete them too.

James enjoys the flexibility of Mohiomap as in his line of work, deadlines and projects require a multitude of revisions, nothing is set in stone. It’s easy for James to change document names, move files and adjust reminders with Mohiomap making his job much smoother and hassle free.

3 - Tagging

Tagging is a great way to collate these notes, documents, and ideas. Group similar themes, topics, notes or ideas with the tag tool. This function helps you group your notes and documents the way you want them collected. Simply drag and drop tags or notes in order to create new connections.

For our example Project Management company, mentioned above, James uses tagging to collate his notes by segments of the project. That is, Development, Implementation to Construction and Execution. Collating his notes this way, gives him clarity and better time management of the projects documents. Once that specific stage has passed, he can click on the tag to hide the documents held within.

4 - Custom connections between nodes (Premium)

Now we get to where the real fun and magic happens with Mohiomap Premium mindmapping. You may recognize this as more of the traditional form of mindmapping where you create your own connections between nodes. To create a custom connection, just click on the ‘Action Icon’ that appears when you click on a node and drag it to the node you want it connecting to. That’s it!

As part of James’ Project Management workflow, he may see his task, note or reminder in Planning directly affecting that in Execution. So that he remembers this for future reference, he’ll connect the two nodes together as shown below.

5 - Color code your nodes (Premium)

Color coding nodes helps keep Mohiomap users focused on the important things, making the most important nodes stand out, right through to creating topic clusters. To color code your nodes, navigate to the edit menu when clicking on your node. Then select the color you wish to change your node to. If you click on a tag and select edit then color, you can change all the nodes in that tag to your selected color.

James takes control of his projects tasks by color coding not only what’s important, but also highlighting what stage he is currently at in the project. All the nodes that are relevant to ‘right now’ are the brightest and at the forefront of not only his map but also his mind.

‍Custom Color with Mohiomap Premium

Note when making changes to your documents and notes with these Premium mindmapping tools (custom connections and color coding), they won’t reflect back in the cloud platforms. These tools are exclusive to the Mohiomap environment.

You may not even realize it, but Mohiomap can help you mindmap your way to a creative presentation or just help you get organized.

Mindmapping is a great way to get thoughts and ideas organized and your cloud files have so much mapping potential and need just as much attention. By using the tools noted above, you can organize your cloud files in the way you want, discover and match hidden connections and extend your documents with creation and customization. Through these tips, you will have just enough value added tools to make mapping your Cloud files not over-complicated and easy to get started.

Mindmapping isn’t just for Premium users which is great news for all of our users! However you will get much more mindmapping functionality with a Premium account. We hope to surprise our users with the ability to color code, create notes and documents, and edit their own maps. Much of which is reflected back in their relevant Cloud platforms.

Let us know at hello@moh.io if this helped you get started with mapping in Mohiomap and what other ways these great features have added to your workflow!
