Bring your Cloud accounts together with Custom Connections

Different cloud platforms have different strengths: Google Drive is fast and flexible with its real time collaboration, Dropbox gives us a great file storage platform, while many of our notes and ideas are collected in Evernote.

Different cloud platforms have different strengths: Google Drive is fast and flexible with its real time collaboration, Dropbox gives us a great file storage platform, while many of our notes and ideas are collected in Evernote.

This means we have to access many different accounts throughout the day in order to work, which can disrupt our workflow. But what about integrating them all into one? That’s where Mohiomap’s custom connections come in.

What is a custom connection?

Custom connections allow you to link specific content from different cloud platforms together. Creating a custom connection couldn’t be simpler:

Step 1: Hover your mouse over the file of interest. (green: Evernote, blue: Google Drive)

Step 2: Drag the Action Icon to the file you wish to connect – done!

Established custom connection between an Evernote note and a Google Drive file

Currently, you can create custom connections between Google Drive files and Dropbox files (and vice versa), as well as Evernote notes to Dropbox and Google Drive files (and vice versa).

In case you are concerned that your files may get moved from its original location when you create the connection, don’t worry. The original file stays where it is and it doesn’t get deleted or moved even if you choose to delete the custom connection.

Here are 3 different ways that custom connections can benefit you:

1. Custom connections save you plenty of time

No more different log-ins

How much time do you waste each day, just logging into different accounts? Perhaps you may not always remember your password – and of course this always happens when you need your things most urgently.

Coherent interface for your connected files

No more switching between different list searching mechanisms and user interfaces.

Our brains get accustomed to a certain interface and become familiar with them, but they change with each platform that we use. By connecting your account data in Mohio you get a unified user interface and are able to link them together with the help of custom connections.

2. Custom connections act as visual reminders

Don’t let your brain get into mental overload!

By creating the connection between files and notes you will never forget that you have related content in your other Cloud providers. It can happen very quickly that you can forget files in other areas of your cloud. Don’t let this happen to you, instead just make a brief connection to your relevant file.

3. Custom connections complement your tags

Custom connections allow you to link specific files and notes together across your Cloud accounts. For example, you can connect a large video file stored in Dropbox to a Google Spreadsheet displaying a forecast of expected sales – while both of these files (and any others) could be tagged as “important”.

Therefore, custom connections (1 to 1 matching) can effectively complement your tagging system (aggregate matching), which are used to group multiple files together.

We are working on including more advanced features for custom connections between your accounts, so stay tuned! We appreciate your comments – feel free to leave them on our feedback site or send us an email at hello@moh.io
