The main characters in power who were instrumental in foiling the plotters. Monteagle tipped of Salisbury, who informed James. Knyvet and Doubleday were sent to investigate, and actually apprehended Fawkes.

Of the accused members of the plot, only Tresham and Tesimond avoided violent deaths – although Tresham died in prison awaiting trial.

The ghost of Guy (Guido) Fawkes continues to have a big influence on popular culture, especially since Alan Moore and David Lloyd’s graphic novel “V For Vendetta” was filmed in 2005/2006.
